A Profile of Oil & Gas
in Texas
EPCglobal’s office in Houston, Texas is currently recruiting
a wide variety of Oil & Gas engineers for clients based all over
the country’s most oil rich state.
Texas is at the forefront of the US oil and gas industry. Combined
distillation capacity of the states 26 refineries totals more than
4.6 million barrels per calendar day, equaling about 26 percent of
the nations refining capacity.
Texas has the second largest crude oil proved reserves (including
Federal Offshore) in the nation with 4,583 million barrels and ranks
second in crude oil production behind Federal Offshore areas with
a daily production rate of 1.1 million barrels.
Petroleum infrastructure is extensive with a large network of crude
oil, product, and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) pipelines and storage
facilities. Texas is home to two of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve's
(SPR) four storage facilities: Bryan Mound near Freeport, Texas,
and Big Hill near Winnie, Texas. Numerous ports line the Texas Gulf
Coast, enabling the state to receive tankers carrying imports of
crude oil and petroleum products. About 49 percent of all homes in
Texas heat with electricity, followed by natural gas with a 43 percent
share.
Staffing the projects that work on the extensive infrastructure
required to deliver these resources is a continually challenging
task. Right now EPCglobal’s staff and contractors are working
with a number of major clients to help them find the professional
engineering and construction workers required to maintain this vital
industry.
